Lively Atoms Coming From The Sun

The title is direct translation of the rather bizarre name of (probably) first vegetarian and raw food restaurant in Turkey that was owned by my grandfather.

Today, as an act of great surprise, my grandmother gave this to me which she found in an old box; a menu used in that restaurant for which I had been looking for quite a long time. This piece of paper dating back to 1956 is a precious artifact of my family's history.

Restaurant of Lively Atoms Coming From The Sun
List of Dishes
Owner: Ejder Akısan
Beyoğlu - Kurabiye Street 24.

Next challenge; to locate exact the spot where it operated.

Is there anything written on the inside?
I love the way it says MEAT 150 gr, SWEETS 150 gr- I wonder what that is for :)

Yep - apparently Kurabiye sokak still exists but I'm sure the numbering system has changed a dozen times since then.

On the other side, there is the full menu. But it's the version of the menu which includes all other kind of meat stuff which was created in an effort to save the almost bankrupt enterprise. I'm still looking for the initial menu which includes only vegan and raw food dishes.

In this menu; each of the sections have a separate part which starts with this sentence: "Sıhhatli ve genç kalarak uzun ömürlü olmak isteyenler için - az yenilmek şartiyle" "For those who want to live long by remaining healthy and young - on the condition to be consumed only a little". And in these sections you have some weird stuff like Raw egg yolk, Spinach juice, Iceberg juice, Raw almonds...

Kurabiye sokak is where Zencefil and Parsifal are. Interesting coincidence - eh?
